- Sandalwood is the name of a class of woods from trees in the genus Santalum. The woods are heavy, yellow, and fine-grained, and unlike many other aromatic woods, they retain their fragrance for decades. Sandalwood oil is extracted from the woods for use. Both the oil and the wood produce a distinctive fragrance that has been highly valued for centuries.

Sandalwood Introduction
- As the so-called "agarwood is the king, sandalwood is the queen", sandalwood ranks second among the four famous incense (沉檀龙麝), second only to agarwood. Compared to agarwood, sandalwood is more popular and has been popular since ancient times. On the trade routes from India to Egypt, Greece, and Rome, sandals are often used in caravans. Because of its extremely high corrosion resistance and its ability to resist insects and ants, many ancient temples or furniture were made of sandalwood.
- Sandalwood is known as the "tree of gold" because it is almost a treasure in its entire body and the economic value of each part is high. The heartwood of sandalwood is a valuable Chinese medicine. Sandalwood root and trunk can be used to extract essential oils. Sandalwood essential oil is commonly known as "liquid gold". Sandalwood currently produced in the old mountainous area of India is "Old Sandalwood", and sandalwood produced in Australia, Southeast Asia, Tonga and other places is "New Sandalwood".

- 正所谓“沉为王，檀为后”，檀香在四大名香（沉檀龙麝）中排行第二，仅次于沉香。相对于沉香，檀香更为大众化，自古以来便深受欢迎，从印度到埃及、希腊、罗马的贸易路线上，常见蓬车载满着檀香。由于檀香具有极高的耐腐蚀性以及其防虫蚁的功能，许多古代的庙宇或家具都是由檀香木所做。
- 檀香树被誉为“黄金之树”，因为它全身几乎都是宝，而且每个部分的经济价值都很高。檀香木的心材是名贵的中药。檀香树根部、主干碎材可以提炼精油，檀香精油俗称“液体黄金”。目前产于印度老山区的檀香为“老山檀”，产于澳洲、东南亚、东加等地的檀香为“新山檀”。
- 檀香在《本草纲目》记载：“治噎膈吐食，又面生黑子，每夜以浆水洗拭令赤，磨汁涂之。”可治心腹疼痛，噎膈呕吐，胸膈不舒。檀香味辛、性温、无毒，理气和胃，消炎抗菌，镇咳祛痰，其香气清新幽雅，具有提神醒脑，舒缓情绪，排解压力，理畅呼吸，改善睡眠，调节内分泌等诸多养生保健的功效。
